Tech Tips: |
Benefits of using
Dash Mounting Brackets
- when handsfree car-kits, for use with
mobile cellular telephones, first came into popular usage in the late
1990's the mobile phone handsets they were used with were often large
and heavy devices and were connected by cable to the car-kit base unit.
- this necessitated development of sturdy brackets to hold the cradle
and handset in a position conveniently within reach and vision of the
driver.
- nowadays most cellular phones are much smaller and lighter and most
handsfree car-kits communicate with the handset via Bluetooth,
eliminating the need for a wired cradle connected to the base unit.
- but many other factors have appeared which make it a good idea to
invest in a proper cradle and bracket for your phone - READ

Charging
- unfortunately many modern cellphones have lots of great
features, including Bluetooth and MP3 players, which quickly drain the
battery.
- a most-convenient way of keeping your phone charged is to have
available a charging-cradle to pop it into quickly during all but the
shortest of trips. |
Display
Visibility
- it's handy to be able to clearly see your phone's
display to check things like signal strength and to see who's
calling you.
- groping around in the cabin or struggling with visibility in
differing light-conditions is not recommended whilst on the move.
- having a conveniently-placed and angled cradle mounted on a
sturdy bracket is worth it for this reason alone! |
The
Rise of the Luggaphone
- now, you serious Road Warriors out there will
understand only too well what we mean by a Luggable
phone!
- once there were ginormous PDAs which we kept in the briefcase
until the next meeting but nowadays the question
is what is the difference between a PDA and a phone?
- answer - not a lot!
- top-end phones have really become PDA-phone-computers and have
really put-on weight and size!
- don't let the device that holds most of your life and business
roll around the car - get
a cradle! |
The
Dreaded Legislation
- various pieces of legislation introduced in the UK
and other countries over the last few years have attempted to make
use of mobile phones whilst driving safer for everyone.
- best to get yourself familiar with the law as it applies to you
but generally legislation mandates as a minimum that phones must
not be held whilst driving.
- that may seem like an outrageously obvious thing to avoid but
why not remove all risk of fiddling with your phone and get
yourself a good cradle??!!
- sorry if we've
mentioned that before but I think you're beginning to see a theme
now? |
Car-Kit
Displays and SatNav Units
- many of the LCD/OLED display screens supplied with
handsfree car-kits today are large and difficult to position
perfectly using the original brackets.
- fed-up with your Sat Nav unit stuck miles away on the windscreen
and just asking to be nicked?
- use of a good metal dash mounting bracket could solve the above
problems - or use them for mounting anything else too! |

No
Holes, No Damage
- the clever design of our Inkars branded dash brackets
will help you to ensure that no holes are visible after the
bracket has been fitted and trim and parts are re-fitted.
- the brackets are easily installed with the minimum amount of
tools and effort and when carefully completed will leave no damage
on the vehicle - even after the bracket is removed. |
Mounting
Position
- the illustrations and images on this page indicate
approximate location positions for this particular bracket and
other positions which are commonly available for other models.
- the most common position of bracket for a Right Hand Drive
vehicle is to the left of the centre console, around the height of
a passenger's knee. This leaves access and visibility clear to
most controls and instruments in the centre console area.
- for many models of vehicle we also have alternative positions
available, e.g. centre tunnel/gearshift area; console upper left;
centre upper; right upper (left of steering wheel); extreme right
(right of steering wheel near door A-post).
- some locations will restrict access to or visibility of some
controls and instruments or may affect airflow from ventilation
duct outlets.
- you must always be careful when locating any aftermarket
equipment in a vehicle to not affect or restrict operation of
airbags.
- if no dedicated bracket is available there are also universal
brackets available, e.g. ones which locate in the DIN radio slots.
- if the exact position of the bracket within the vehicle's cabin
is vitally important to you please check with us for full details.
- please note that our brackets are designed for Right Hand
Drive vehicles. Many of the brackets are actually the same as
used on the Left Hand Drive version of the same vehicle mode (e.g.
if the dashboard is of a symmetrical design). If you require
the bracket for LHD usage please confirm with us prior to
ordering. |
