These plans are for the "WINCHELSEA" 8 Dinghy, one of our most popular DIY designs. A small, multi chine clinker style dinghy with 6 planks per side and a full length keel that has a variety of uses. It can be rowed, sailed or motored and is a sturdy little vessel. (These plans are the rowing/motor plans which also include full sail rig details).  The size of this boat means you can't get the length of all the planks from a single sheet of plywood so you have to "scarf" a small piece to 4 of the 6 planks. Full details of this in the plans. It is built over temporary moulds in a more traditional way. Not as easy as the "Stitch & Tape" method perhaps but doesn't pose too many problems for our builders. As the pictures show, it produces a good looking little boat. The pictures are of an inexperienced amateur built example. There are others on our website.

Light enough to be lifted by one person and transported on the roofrack of the average family saloon car with help to get it up there. It would be easier to move it around on a small trailer. She will take a small lightweight outboard up to 2hp max for motoring around your local water. The plans detail the extra strength added to the transom for an outboard motor.

Basic materials guide,

3 sheets of plywood for the hull component parts plus a few lengths if wood for the trim and build frame etc. plus a minimum 3kg (3ltr) epoxy pack and additives for fillets, paint and varnish.

The building of this boat requires average DIY skills and a few basic tools. T

Remember, if you need it, there is email/text/phone/WhatsApp support to help you, details are sent with the plans.
