18” x 24” (46x61cm) Print: $33.00/ea., plus shipping/handling

NOTE: This Ode, written by Ken Bastar, is the original concept, celebrating the art of letterpress. Watch for all our other versions, utilizing different type groupings, featuring different characters for each new iteration with their own little visual twist.

We absolutely love letterpress wood type, and the very arty, 'imperfect' quality of its actual printed matter. The fact that the brayer does the best job it can transferring the ink to the block, yet the 'press-and-peel' portion of this shallow-impression printing process invariably leaves little peeks of the paper or any other underlying ink color showing through here and there, is so expected and natural. This print is high tribute to that now surpassed—but still practiced and revered—printing technique that many of us still find enjoyable in so many ways. Just ask the staff and patrons of Two River's own 'Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum' how increasingly popular their incredible exhibit and hands-on facilities have become to the public's desire to preserve and pay tribute to this medium. You'll then better understand our desire to create this print to share the love with you.

Whether you're someone who has worked with letterpress in the past, are a student of the history behind these little pieces of our early communication development, love to collect wood type, or are simply appreciative of the wonderful interior design aspects of these graphic elements as art, we think you'll enjoy this wonderful 'Ode to Letterpress' Ken has created. This version has a bonus ghosted image under the Ode which is a representation of the actual printed blocks.

Here's your opportunity to make a statement of your own love, support and appreciation of the art of letterpress, and your affinity for these little sculptures we call antique wood type. Regardless your own 'patina or age,' this print was designed for that inner artist in all of us! We're sure you'll have a knowing smile when your guests inquire about your love for this age-old genre when they ask, 'why you?'

A horizontal version of this print is also available, for those with more useable wall space to occupy. It features the area to the left of a much larger type grouping for the Ode, itself.
Check it out separately at 'See other items.'

This offering is a very high-quality Giclée print, produced on 9 mil thick matte stock, with a bright smooth finish. This print employs Epson UltraChrome K3 ink, which has improved print permanence characteristics that provide lightfastness ratings of up to 108 years for color, and beyond 200 years for black and white output. The print is just beautifully produced! Absolutely no 7.5 or even thinner 5 mil papers are employed by us, as many others offer with their prints.

Depending upon final size, Prints (18 x 24, 12 x 16 or smaller) are shipped carefully protected by a stiff cardboard backer and in a clear acetate archival sleeve, coming to you in a sturdy white cardboard, self-seal stay-flat mailing envelope.

Because it is personally subjective in nature, and clearly visible for ownership determination before the purchase in my listings, the policy is to Replace, not Refund, Prints and other artwork, but only under limited circumstances.

Please note that buyer must contact me within one week (7 days) of when prints are marked 'Shipped' on eBay, if you receive a damaged print. Replacement of damaged prints will be forthcoming, but only if I'm notified within this time frame, and requires buyer to pay for the return of any damaged prints in the same protective mailer in which it was received (simply change the label).

Thanks for your understanding. We're always happy to replace a print if damaged in shipment.

Prints are generally shown smaller and only in a low 72 ppi resolution to discourage copying attempts. The actual print you'll receive, however, is at least 300 ppi, and is just beautiful!

All images are personally copyrighted and commercially printed in the USA. All rights are strictly reserved by the artist. Purchase of prints does not transfer reproduction rights, and therefore does not give you the right to copy or reproduce this work in any manner.

Actual print colors may vary slightly from colors displayed on your monitor, due to individual monitor calibration issues.

ATTENTION: Your print WILL NOT INCLUDE the diagonal copy security watermark that appears on your screen image. This is only to prevent any attempt at unauthorized on-line direct copying of our intellectual property.

Prints are not matted and are unframed, of course. The image of framed and matted prints on the wall is only to suggest how appealing these prints can be in a typical home or office décor scenario.

Thanks for visiting and for your print order. We deeply appreciate your support for our unique art prints here on eBay.
