Passenger Vehicles Inspection Pads

A4 size pad containing 50 pages for PCV's / PSV's revised July '23. With a checklist on front and details of rectifications and recommendations on the rear to include Driver Defect Report Items.

This routine maintenance check pad (part of a series of pads), is in line with the latest DVSA (VOSA) requirements, has been approved and is constantly reviewed and where necessary updated!!

The pad uses industry standard references as detailed in the DVSA booklet 'Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness '23 which states:

1. an operator will conduct regular safety checks and inspections on the vehicles at specified intervals and keep records of these checks and inspections and their results;

2. a written report must be completed for each safety inspection separately for both vehicles and trailers;

3. the new guidelines state that all vehicles (and trailers) are required to have 3 x rolling-road brake tests throughout the year in addition to the brake test required for the annual MoT test. It goes on to state to in accordance with item 6 on (page 9 of the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness), that every safety inspection must assess the braking performance of the vehicle or trailer. It is strongly advised that a calibrated roller brake tester (RBT) is used at each safety inspection to measure individual brake performance and overall braking efficiencies for the vehicle or trailer. However, it is also acceptable to use an approved and calibrated Decelerometer to test vehicles without trailers to measure overall brake efficiency values. Also ensure your pads include the ability for the inspecting technician to note whether any of repair items should have been reported by the driver; this was introduced in 2014 and evidence is available in the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.

Ensure the pads you are currently using are up-to-date, as if not you run the risk of your inspections being considered invalid and thereby you may well fall foul of DVSA guidelines and recommendations.  Our advice is only to buy what you need and do not be encouraged to purchase more to save a small amount as this way you are ensuring that should the rules change you can react quicker to them!!

Lastly, ensure when the complete report is returned from your maintenance supplier that all necessary items have been acknowledged (ticked or crossed), and that its has been signed-off as being roadworthy by a competent person!!
