Revisit The Great Danbury State Fair.
The race is on! Auto racing at the Fairgrounds started in 1904 and lasted until the Fair closed for good in 1981.

For 112 years, from 1869 until 1981, the Great Danbury State Fair thrilled and delighted hundreds of thousands from all over the Northeast. It was called the most unique fair in America due to its wide array of attractions that continued to evolve over its long history. Along with a multitude of games, rides, food and entertainment, the Fair annually hosted agricultural and international exhibits. It was also the site of the famous Danbury Race Track (Racearena), which was one of the oldest in the country.
