RARE EARLY 1900's DOMINION CARTRIDGE CO. MOOSE COVER IMPERIAL HOTEL DEALER ENVELOPE

Offered is a rare envelope from one of the most beautiful and sought after sporting advertising envelope series ever produced. It advertises "Dominion Ammunition Shotshell's & Metallics for all kinds of shooting." This specific moose cover has been one of the most difficult in the set to obtain and was found behind a drawer in Kempville, Nova Scotia's Imperial Hotel and hails from the early 1900's when the Imperial Hotel catered mostly to guides, hunters and fishermen (E.F. Walton, Proprietor 1900-1931). Among the famed guests of the Imperial was American President Theodore Roosevelt. (In the early 1900s Kemptville became a favourite resort for sportsmen, many coming from the United States to fish and hunt. Local men found employment as guides and lodges and hotels were built to provide accommodation. The Imperial Hotel was one hunting lodge with a rich history and another was Birchdale).

This envelope measures 6-1/2" x 3-1/2" and is in Excellent Condition with bright vivid colors and no tears, no foxing, no folds etc. The gummed flap isn't even stuck to the envelope body. This is a Guaranteed Original Antique Dominion Cartridge Co. Cover. Among other things it was inspected with a Nikon 40x illuminated microscope clearly showing original crisp lithography whereas modern reproductions show telltale fuzzy inkjet/laser-printer patterns such as horizontal lines and fuzzy/haloed spray patterns.
