Despite

years, deer antler velvet has only just recently been popularized in

Deer
antler velvet consists of the antlers of a deer at the middle of its
growth stage. Deer, elk, and moose are the only mammals that have
regenerative organs (antlers), which means that they naturally shed
their antlers every winter and grow them back in the spring and
summer. During this phase, the antlers will be covered in a light
texture that feels like soft velvet to the touch, which is where the
term velvet comes from. This process of the annual regrowth of
antlers is likely what initially intrigued the ancient Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners when working with deer antler
velvet. They learned that by taking certain parts of these antlers
in the middle stages of their regrowth and taking them as medicine in
various ways could mimic the regenerative effects in various organs
in humans. Deer antler velvet also has a wide range of other uses.
The
antlers used in this tincture are painlessly removed before any
calcification takes place in the antlers. The antlers come from Red
Deer and no deer are hurt or injured during the annual process of
collecting the antlers.
How
it works:
Deer
Antler Velvet is very popular among high level athletes, with results
so successful that it has been banned in some major professional
sports organizations (they do not ban things that do not work). The
key component in Antler Velvet that contributes to this are two
hormones called Insulin-like Growth Factors 1 and 2, or IGF-1 (also called Somatomedin C) and IGF-2. They are called Insulin-like
because they are molecularly similar to insulin. On top of these hormones, deer antler velvet is chock full
of other vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, proteins, and nutrients.
