This is a print that was part of a set of posters promoting members of the Soviet Politburo, the central policy making body of the Soviet Union. the set's cover claims it is a "photo-portrait", but in real life it is a surreal mix of photography and paint. the painting over the original photo gives it an eerie depth and detail. 9-3/4" x 13" (24.7cm x 33 cm)

the subject of the photo is Vladimir Vasilovich Shcherbytsky, a member of the last Politburo of the Soviet Union...and quite the interesting character. He was born into a working family in Ukraine and rose up through the CPSU ranks to the top. he was a close friend and ally to both Leonid Brezhnev and Mikhail Gorbachev. he participated in the little known "Iranian Crisis" of 1946, and was also a major player in the event to keep the Chorbonyl meltdown a secret. he was the recipient of many orders of the USSR: Hero of Socialist Labor (x2), Order of Lenin (x8), Order of the October Revolution (x2), OGPW1, OGPW2, Order of the Red Banner of Labor...and the Lenin Prize. died in 1990 of pneumonia.

Shipping Policy:  ships in a mailing tube. i will be happy to ship internationally, but you might want to discuss methods of shipment first...because a mailing tube adds 3.2 ounces to the shipping weight. for combined shipping on posters, i will not add any additional shipping for more than one poster.
