Description

Pack of 10 fresh seeds of Toona sinensis / Cedrela sinensis (Chinese Mahogany / Red Toon) – with full instructions for germination

An extremely rare and strikingly beautiful specimen tree native to eastern and south-eastern Asia - eventually growing to a height of around 40 feet (12 m) and a spread of 20 ft (6m)

The emerging leaves are bright pink, almost fluorescent, during spring (darker pink/red in younger trees) which gradually turn a peacefully light green colour throughout the seasons.  The deciduous leaves are made up of pinnate, oval-lance-shaped, papery leaflets

The trees will eventually form attractive peeling bark and take a multi-stemmed form.  Any shoots forming at the base of the trees can be removed as desired.  Flowers are borne during the summer and are a pinkish-white

Fully hardy to -15ºC (5ºF).  Keep soil on the drier side during frosts and protect very young plants
