Description

Pack of 20 fresh seeds of Cercis chinensis (Chinese Redbud) – with full instructions for germination

A small, deciduous tree from China (and Japan), typically growing to 20 feet (6m) in open ground, taking around 20 years to reach this height, although staying much smaller if grown within a bonsai pot (around 5 feet)

spectacular display of striking purple-pink flowers cover the bare branches during April and May, before bronze-red heart-shaped leaves unfurl.  Leaves later turn green and then lovely shades of yellow and orange before falling in autumn. The trees themselves take stunning forms so they even look stunning during winter. Truly year-round interest!

The trees are easy to keep small (if desired) with pruning and when grown in shalllow bonsai pots.  These trees flower young.  Makes an excellent bonsai tree

Plant within full sun or partial shade (best autumn leaf colours within full sun)

Fully frost hardy to -23C (-10F) but likes a well-drained soil
