SPINNER is two-sided with a picture of each creature and its name on the front and a description
of each creature's Type, Lifespan, Habitat, Length, Food, Predator, and a Fun Fact on the reverse.

The guide sheet reads as follows...

"MARINE LIFE GUIDE SHEET

3 Possible Ways to Use This Spinner Set...
For Ages 4+

As a Game:
PREY TELL:
Make copies of one of the enclosed score sheets (depending on whether you wish to play a long or short game)
 and pass one out to each player. Everyone then spins for a Marine Life creature to represent them and places a sticker of that
creature at the top center of their sheet. Turns are taken in alphabetical order starting with the player who spun Barnacle
first, then continuing with the player who spun Clownfish, and so on*. The first player will then spin again and place
the sticker of the new creature spun in the next circle of their score sheet. The player must now study the back of the spinner
to determine what this new creature has in common with the one at the top of their sheet (younger players will need guidance).
Are they both Mammals? If yes, draw a large M beneath this new sticker. Are they both Carnivores? Draw a C.
Both live in Coastal Waters? Draw a CW. Do they have many of the same Predators? P...and so on. If they have nothing in
common, then the player will draw a large X beneath this sticker. Now it is the next player's turn to spin for a creature.
Play continues until all players have spun 6 times for the long game or 4 times for the shorter game.
EVERYONE'S A WINNER WITH LOTS OF GREAT LEARNING FUN!

*If 2 or more players have spun the same creature, start with the one who spun it first
 then continue with the one who spun it second and so on.

As a Discussion Prompt:
1) Each student spins to get a creature's sticker: Would you enjoy being this creature? Why or why not?
2) Each student spins to get 2 different creatures: Which creature lives longer?
 Which is bigger? Do they live in the same habitat? Eat the same food?
3) Each student spins to get a creature's sticker: Discuss with your class the Fun Fact listed for each creature.

For Activities:
1) Have each student spin for a creature's sticker. Then help them to line up desks, blocks, etc.
to demonstrate the length of their creature. (Ex. Three 4' desks may be lined up for the shortest whale
 as you explain that the longest whale is the length of five 20' classrooms - or a similar description.)
2) Divide your classroom into habitat areas. Have each student spin for a creature's sticker.
Then help each student swim over to the correct habitat.
3) Each student spins for a creature. Give them a sticker of that creature to place
 on a piece of paper and guide them as they draw the appropriate habitat and food.
4) Students spin to get 2 or more creature stickers for assorted art projects: posters, name tags, collages, etc.

These suggestions are only the tip of the tentacle - we know you can come up with a myriad more.
