Description

Pack of 10 viable seeds of Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' (Purple Japanese Maple) – with full instructions for germination.

A small deciduous, slow-growing tree of palmately-lobed leaves, forming a handsome garden specimen or bonsai.

The rich purple-red leaves, possessing 7 lobes, gradually become hues of fiery red during autumn. Prefers partial shade.

Grows 3-4 feet within a bonsai pot, or around 12 feet after 20 years within open ground.

Fully frost hardy. Protect very young plants and seedlings from hard frosts initially.

The trees are easy to keep small (if desired) with pruning.

Makes an excellent bonsai tree as the roots are very shallow and it is easily dwarfed.
