This is a unique piece to our inventory because it is American and not English. Probably made around 1940, this antique chifferobe is a beautiful and functional piece that would make a wonderful addition to any bedroom or other room needing some stylish storage.

The definition of a chifferobe is a piece of furniture with both doors (larger areas for hanging clothes) and drawers. As you can see this piece fits the bill perfectly! There are three doors total, all mirrored. The two side ones house a large open space and have a wood bar up top that runs from left to right for hanging. All three doors lock and one key is included. Down the middle is a bank of five drawers and one shallow, wide drawer runs across the very bottom. The original brass handles adorn all of the drawers and have a subtly intricate design on them. These handles are attractive without being overstated on the antique chifferobe. The bottom is supported but bun feet with casters all of which are quite sturdy. Finally a gorgeous design was engraved at the top. Along with the domed cornice gives the piece a more elegant shape.

This piece remains in good condition today. It does have the following cosmetic issues which serve to lend character to the piece and do not affect its structural integrity. There is a small indent on the bottom molding and tiny marks around the feet and moldings. The right door has had the mirror replaced and the mirrors on the left and center door have some minor spotting. There is also a repair on the top right corner of the right door. A small spot of molding is missing on the bottom right corner and there is a slight gap in the moldings on the bottom left corner. We have shown pictures of all these things. The doors and locks work very well. It is a sturdy piece that will last you for many years. Don’t miss our on this antique chifferobe today!
