New/old stock, this is the original nickel plated steel key that Schatz shipped with most of their Schatz 53 and JUM/7 miniature and midget movement clocks. These are the Schatz clocks with '53' or 'JUM/7' in a circle on the back plate.

This key WILL NOT work with those Schatz 53 London Coach and Bermuda Carriage case clocks that are hung from the top by a wide bracket that runs down behind the movement. These clocks require a longer key that extends through a small hole in the bracket. (Click on the 'Keys' Category on the left to find our Schatz TM long shaft keys that fit these clocks.) This key WILL fit those Schatz 53 London Coach and Bermuda Carriage case clocks that are supported from the base by arches, as there is no bracket behind the clock to get in the way of the shorter key.

We know anniversary clocks. Are you looking for a key for your Schatz clock, but aren't sure if it is a Schatz miniature or midget movement clock? Are you looking for a key for one of your other anniversary clocks? We can help!

Jahresuhrenfabrik (Year Clock Factory), headed by August Schatz, was the longest running, and one of the most successful, anniversary clock manufacturers ever. They began producing key wind anniversary clocks in 1881, continuing with brief interruptions during WWI and WWII (and also changing the name to Aug. Schatz & Sohne), until the late 1970's. In 1981, they unveiled a reproduction of their 1885 clock to commemorate the firm's 100 year anniversary. Although the vast majority of their post WWII clocks were marketed under the Schatz name, many were sold under such importers as Heco, National Silver Company, and Sokol Montag & Company. To complicate matters, other anniversary clock manufacturers also sold clocks through some of these same importers. And although many Schatz miniature and midget clocks have some uniquely identifiable characteristics, others may not.

Here's how we can help you find the right key for your clock: Contact us, and attach a close up picture of the back plate of your clock (you do not need to remove the suspension spring guard). It should be a fairly sharp picture, but doesn't have to be perfect. If any writing on the plate is illegible from the photograph, just write it down in the text of the message. No digital camera? No problem. Along with any writing on the back plate, include a top to bottom measurement of your clock. We will reply back with the clock manufacturer's name, movement size, approximate date of manufacture, and the title of our auction if we stock a key that fits. We stock keys for all post WWII anniversary clocks, as well as some pre WWII anniversary clocks. Any questions, just ask!
