About US; Campbell Films is a small
American family business dedicated to the preservation of rare, historical
films. Started in 2007 by a father and son, team. They have worked tirelessly
to digitize, compile and create truly rare and unique DVD's to share with the
world. The son went to film school and father is a veteran with the
historical passion, so together they assembled the content of Campbell
Films. Most likely you'll find things you haven't seen before. We

What's on this DVD; Icebreakers
1st Film " Cruising Northern Waters"
This is a 1953 USN film. A story mostly of the "USS Burton Island WAC
279" and other icebreakers functioning in the Northern waters. Includes shots
of the "Burton Island" in dry dock to sailing through 2 feet of ice.
Plus it shows how life is on board an Icebreaker. Icebreakers really roll. A
Helicopter shows the best route at times. Etc. 12:32 Min's
2nd Film "Canadian Icebreaker" 1950s.
Come on board the Canadian Icebreaker "CCGS D'Iberville as she travels the
Eastern Canadian waters. Great shots of a the eastern arctic waters and she too
breaks ice as she travels to far away camps and villages. Nice B/W film 6:31

3rd Film "Arctic Operation" USN Film.
This is the story about Army, Navy, USCG, and Canada working together to
establish military and scientific bases on the northern shores of Alaska and
Canada for early radar detection from the Russians. A fleet of ships, including
several Icebreakers and supply ships such as LSTs, Cargo ships, and a few
destroyers, sail from Seattle the northern shores of Alaska and Canada. The
story shows the ice, wind and fog they encountered to deliver their cargo. Once
at port, Ice was still a problem as the unloaded there cargo in Dukws, LSTs,
and Alligators before the winter sets in. Great stuff but a bit long. 41:34

This a collection of newsreels about supplying outposts to finally crossing the
northwest passage, to USCG resuming iceberg patrols and How an Icebreaker
