Here we have a spectacular1800s teapot and sugar bowl set.  Both pieces are hand decorated in what was called at the time “fancy”.   Both the teapot and the sugar bowl are finely molded with a flowering vine around the side and acanthus leaves rising from the base.  The tea pot is hand decorated with blue and copper glaze highlights, the sugar is decorated with green and copper glaze highlights.  The teapot has an applied handle with a thumb grip on top.  This is the most ornately decorated teapot and sugar I’ve ever seen.  Measuring 5 ¾” in height to the top of the knob on the lid by 10” in total width the teapot is in near mint condition.  The front of the inside rim is chipped, this doesn’t show with the lid in place.  One corner of the lid is chipped, but again this is not noticeable with the lid in place.  The sugar bowl measures 4 ¾” in height to the top of the knob on the lid by 5 ¾” in length.  The sugar is in near mint condition with only a small flake on the outside edge of the rim.  There is also a drying line inside the sugar bowl that is stained and doesn’t go through to the outside.  This is an extremely rare teapot and sugar set, these are not included in any of the books on yellow ware and would be prized by any serious collector.
