A water-soluble vitamin that is made up of Cobalt, Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) is usually stored in the liver and scientists in their search to cure the pernicious anemia disease noted its accidental discovery in the early 1920. Cobalamin is an extrinsic compound, which is sourced from animal derived sources such as cheese, egg yolks, organ meats, shellfish and oily fishes. Deficiency in this Vitamin is often present in Vegans or Vegetarians as there are no plant-based sources of this vitamin.
Vitamin B12 can also be in a different form such as Hydroxylcobalamin, Cyanocobalamin or Methylcobalamin. The form used for this tablet is Cyanocobalamin, which contains a cyano-group, a precursor for molecular cyanide. Cyanocobalamin is an artificial form of the vitamin but derived from natural sources (Pseudomonas Denitrificans). Methylcobalamin and Cyanocobalamin can be used interchangeably as the body effectively absorb both.
The Vitamin B12 helps promote the normal psychological and neurological functionality as well as helps reduce feelings of fatigue. Clinical studies show it helps in red blood cell formation and homocysteine metabolism. Additionally, it helps promote healthy immune system and stimulate cell division.
