For most of the cold war, if there was an organization in one camp, the other would surely have a counterpart. the Young Pioneers were no exception as they were the direct counterpart to the USA's boy scouts. the Young Pioneers were for the youngest members of the VLKSM (or All-Union Communist Young Organization) in the USSR. all Marxist Leninist countries had some form of the pioneers.
This medal says "For Success in the Competition" on the suspension and "Pioneer Homeland" on the obverse.
