Fred Darking was a Nottingham artist  and member of the Nottingham School of Art having studied under Arthur Spooner

Darking is noted for his war art

One piece is a crayon pastel on board and looks a wartime piece or just after depicting a female in uniform portrait

Condition very good and clean

The second portrait is seated within the 1960s and again on board and oil or acrylic

Condition

Board is bruised on the bottom corner edges

Both are skilled works

 

Signed top left and on paper label on reverse that also notes its origins and theme
