A scarce copy of the second edition (published in the same year as the first edition) of this study by English philosopher John Stuart Mill (1806-1873); bound in the original cloth with gilt title to spine; binding a little rubbed with wear to edges, bumping to corners, sunned to spine, scratch to upper board; decorative bookplate to front pastedown (Maitland-Jones), and signature to half-title (Joseph Jones, Brynamman) dated 1880; contents lightly toned, in generally good order, just a little light foxing, minor soiling, handling marks in places, mainly to first/last few leaves.
