MEMORIES OF THE DELAWARE & HUDSON

The program opens with vignettes of D&H steam on the Forest City and Ararat grades in Pennsylvania. Thrill to the sights and sounds of the powerful and elegant J-Class 4-6-6-4 Challengers in action, as these huge beasts manhandle long trains over steep mountain grades! You'll even see a train with a Challenger on the head end and three locomotives (4-6-6-4, 0-8-8-0, and 2-8-0) pushing. Other stream power depicted includes 4-6-0, 2-8-0, 0-8-0, and the famous elephant-eared 4-6-2 and 4-8-4 types.

Next, we visit the large yard and engine terminal at Oneonta, NY for a look at D&H diesels at the height of the Alco era. You'll see as many as 16 Alcos at the terminal as we watch trains from many intersting angles. There's plenty of Alco action on the road too, including numerous C628 lashups and snow scenes. The program concludes with coverage of the D&H Bicentennial train, pulled by a red-white-and-blue RS3/U23B lashup.
