The top is very comfortable, and meant to be very loose and flowing.

We took some measurements of our own trying to get an idea where the arm pit area would be,(because of the batwing sleeve, there's no seam) and we got much bigger numbers: S/M-58", Lg-62", Xl-66", XXl-70". 

We had a girl who is a size 20, with a 45" bust, try on the S/M, and it fit fine, so determining what size you would like will depend on how loose you want it, and if you plan on wearing it belted or straight.
