This auction is for a highly unusual vintage Celtic brooch of oval shape hand painted on red backing with its original maker's card.

The maker's card reads "Hand Painted Leather Brooch Celtic Dogs Hand Made in Ireland"

These dogs are part of Irish legend and have been used in various decorative jewellery,paintings,furniture etc inspired as early as the 17th Century.They are represented as guardian animals.

The brooch is in excellent condition with no damage.
