Middle Eastern Manuscript

Beautiful hand illuminated ancient manuscript!!

Bound in a full leather, in a period Ottoman style binding. Decorated with hand stamped gold and a small label on the front cover. The label has the Arabic numerals, I believe, 22, so this is most likely a volume from a collection. Each leave is made from vellum, or similar animal skin. Each page is handwritten and decorated with the ancient techniques of the earliest scribes.

Book was bound by hand and an excellent example of Islamic bookbinding. The work is not dated, but based on how it has aged and the materials used, it was likely made circa 1700. Be sure to see the close up pictures for the condition, as some pages have areas that had stuck together at some point and pulled away some of the paper onto the facing page; nevertheless, this is an amazing example and a one of a kind ancient treasure.
