French Antique Beveled Glass & Brass Napoleon III Photo Frame

An exceptionally elaborate and beautiful crafted larger easel-back spring brass frame from the Napoleon III period – the 1870’s – 1880’s - with a rare handmade round-edges beveled glass.

The top of the frame has an elegant, intricate design with leaves and curls and a fleur de lys center, reminiscent of the banner of the Dukes of Brittany which would not be unusual since it came from an estate sale near St Malo in northern France.

The frame stands on two solidly attached ball feet and the back spring mechanism which holds the glass and the photograph in place are in excellent condition.

It also has a small ring so that the frame can be mounted on a wall.

The glass is thickly beveled with only a tiny chip at the back bottom of the corner, invisible when a photo is in place.

The glass measures 4 3/8 inches by 6 ½ inches.

The frame from the bottom of the feet to the top of the brass top measures 8 ¾ inches in all.

It comes with an original antique photograph.
