Lag/Swage Bottlescrew Stainless Wire Balustrade Kits (Optional)

This slimline, neat DIY kit is perfect for fixing 3.2mm stainless steel 316 wire rope to timber posts.

Suitable for straight line wire rope runs less than 10 metres, between timber posts.

These fittings require hydraulic swaging. You can use the hydraulic hand swaging tool available to buy with this kit.

The wire rope is inserted in the swage end of the bottlescrew and crimped using the hydraulic swaging tool. At the other end of the run, insert the wire rope into the lag screw swage terminal and crimp. Tension the wire rope with the bottlescrew.

Wire Rope

Stainless Steel Grade AISI 316 1x19 3.2mm now available in 50M, 100M, 200M and 305M reels. Marine Grade Stainless Steel 316 has the highest corrosion protection, making this rope perfect for highly corrosive environments including beachfront properties often with high salinity levels.

Commonly used in balustrading purposes and architecturally, 1x19 wire rope is stronger than other constructions of wire, with less stretch, and it is also the least flexible and does not allow for kinks or bends.

This wire rope is both quality tested for tensile strength (at least 8.44KN) and stainless steel 316 chemical composition. Be assured you are purchasing a high quality, well made product.

Light Duty Hydraulic Swaging Tool (Optional)

This handy, easy to use Light Duty Hydraulic Swaging Tool is suitable for crimping (also called 'swaging' - pronounced 'sway-jing') stainless steel, copper and aluminium fittings for the wire rope. It is commonly supplied for residential wire balustrade projects which require crimping the M5 stainless steel bottlescrews swage fittings for 3.2mm wire

You can also crimp copper swage fittings such as those for 3.2mm wire (use the #10 dies supplied). Bear in mind the crimp is in a hexagon shape as opposed to the rounded shape you will get with a mechanical swager.

It features a pressure auto-release function that kicks in once the 5T pressure has been reached. This safety feature will prevent damage from over crimping and allows you to quickly crimp without second guessing pressure levels. Not all tools on the market have this feature. It is very handy and you will love it.

Wire Rope Cutters (Optional)

We highly recommend you snap up these tried and tested quality Parrot Beak Wire Rope Cutters. They'll save you time stuffing around with a grinder; bolt cutters won't do the job either. They work really well for shearing the 3.2mm wire rope included in this kit. They work well for up to 4.0mm wire.

Spanner Multi Tool 304 Stainless Steel (Optional)

Nifty multi-tool complete with spanner and bottlescrew tightening mechanism for M5 and M6 fittings.

Perfect for our balustrade bottlescrews, lag screws and swage stud terminals.

High polish stainless steel 316 finish.
