This is a 1966 Fender Band Master Guitar Amplifier..

It's easier if I describe the Chassis and the Cabinet separately..

CHASSIS:

All transformers are original and date the amp to early 1966. It has a full cap job in April of 2017, a 3 prong chord added, 1 Volume pot was replaced, and 1 or 2 resistors. All else is original.. The amp is rock solid and works perfectly, including the Vibrato. It has 1 RCA Blackplate and 1 older Sylvania power tube that are pretty closely matched and biased a touch on the hot side. The preamp tubes are vintage as well. The amp sounds like a healthy Fender should, and it is ready to hit the road...

CABINET:

It gets a little tricky here. Obviously the grill cloth is replaced. When I first got it, I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary until I took it apart for service. The cabinet is actually a White Tolex Showman Cab that has been painted black. Showmans and Band Masters shared the same Chassis and thus were the same size. We also know that Band Masters were seen as late as 66 in white Tolex cabinets..My theory is this, that the cabinet is original to the chassis..I think that this Band Master left the factory in 66 in a white Showman Cab, somewhere down the line, the owner wanted his amp to look like the "new" ones and replaced the grill cloth and painted the cabinet black..That's all speculation of course, but I think it is plausible and probably what happened..It looks like he used some sort of spray paint, and it doesn't look bad at all!! I have quite a few black face amps, and I had no idea it had been painted until I really started looking at it....I'm sure the paint could be stripped off, but I'm nowhere near that ambitious!

SUMMARY:

You get a fully serviced, 99% original, great sounding chassis in an odd ball cabinet that could be a cool project if you're that type, or go with what you got!
