CURIOSIN® is capable of promoting physiological wound healing and preventing wound infection.
CURIOSIN® is composed principally of highly purified zinc hyaluronan, a proprietary complex of the essential skin constituent hyaluronan* biomolecule and zinc.
CURIOSIN® is a clear, non-irritant, highly biocompatible product family supplied as Gel for the management of various types of wounds.
Zinc hyaluronan - the innovative spirit in wound care
Zinc hyaluronan is a proprietary complex of the essential skin constituent hyaluronan* biomolecule and zinc. Hyaluronan represents a new generation in modern wound care, while zinc has been traditionally used by several generations for different skin conditions.
However, unlike a simple hyaluronan combination, zinc hyaluronan as a complex not only maintains all the specific features of its constituents, but shows additional benefits of enhanced wound healing, antimicrobial and enhanced anti-inflammatory properties, as well.
Wound healing:
hyaluronan is responsible for maintaining tissue hydration, the elasticity and plasticity of the skin and the regeneration after trauma. The hydrated hyaluronan network acts as a water-delivery system and keeps the damaged skin moist, which is in fact one of the major principles of modern wound management.
Zinc hyaluronan:
has a stronger water-binding property compared to hyaluronan.
In addition, zinc hyaluronan may reduce scar formation and restore healthy skin conditions via helping the damaged skin to heal from the depth of the wound to the skin surface.
Antimicrobial:
due to the molecular porosity of the zinc hyaluronan layer it acts as an antimicrobial filter against bacteria of airborne and contact origin thus preventing the healing wound from infection.
Anti-inflammatory:
healing might be hindered by reactive oxygen species and free radicals. Via scavenging these tissue damaging factors the zinc hyaluronan matrix protects the cells, resulting in reduced tissue inflammation and less wound pain.
