POSTER STAMPS SWITZERLAND DURING WORLD WAR I RED CROSS CROIX ROUGE TOBLER

This is a marvellous set of 12 cinderella stamps (n. 97 – n. 108) edited by Swiss firm Chocolat Tobler. The set represents series n.9 published by Tobler in the 1920’s.

The stamps with no text in the back, were inserted inside the chocolate plates between the wrapper and the aluminium foil for children to collect them.

Chocolat Tobler at those times, was an innovative Swiss Firm that positively embrassed the hope for a peaceful and universal language just after the end of World War I. That’s why the text and description of the front side of the stamps are written in the International language IDO, which was a pioneered predecessor of the Esperanto.

The collection is complete which add to the extreme difficulty of having all of them stay together after almost a century of age. The stamps are made of thin paper with dimension 1.6 x 2.2 inches.
