You’re able to test and/or monitor the pH levels of your water, soil, food, cleaners, and more! pH Test Strips for Water: With all the chemicals in our drinking water nowadays, more and more people are starting to test their water supply regularly to ensure they’re not exposing themselves to harmful toxins. Acidic water (pH < 6.5) can contain toxic metals such as iron, manganese, copper, lead, and zinc, all of which are harmful for your health. If the pH level of your water at home is acidic, you may consider testing for the presence of these metals in the water. pH Test Strips for Soil: In general, you want the pH level of your soil to be slightly acidic. A pH of 6-7 is optimal for most plants, and provides the best environment for the plant to absorb nutrients from the soil. If you have plants in your house, this is a great way to ensure they’re in the best environment to grow! pH Test Strips for Food: Testing the acidity of the foods we eat can be an eye opening experiment. It’s important to note, just because a food item is acidic, doesn’t mean it will lower your pH level, as all foods metabolize differently. FOR BEST RESULTS, TEST pH FREQUENTLY Especially when using our pH test strips for water and soil, it’s highly recommended that you test multiple times to get the best results. pH levels in water can spike when there are larger than normal amounts of corrosive metals in the water supply. We supply 100 test strips in each box, giving you ample test strips to be able to monitor the average pH of water and/or soil over time, giving you a much better understanding of the results. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Our pH test strips are easy to use and come packaged with easy to follow directions. Simply fill a cup with the substance being tested, and dip the padded end of the test strip into the substance for a few seconds, not going past the “Max Line”. Remove from the cup and lay on a hard flat surface. In less than 5 minutes you’ll be able to read the substances pH levels with the scale chart provided in the instructions! The chart on the box shows how to read the results for our pH test strips. 7.0 is considered neutral or “base”, while any number below 7.0 is considered acidic. Results above 7.0 are considered alkaline. If you find your water has a low pH level, you may want to consider purchasing test strips that test for harmful metals like lead, flouride, etc. If these metals are present in your water, you should consider a filtration system to protect yourself from ingesting these toxic metals. If you find your soil has a pH level that is too acidic, consider treating it with a liming material like Calcic limestone to bring it back towards neutral. Be sure to research the type of plant and the environment they prefer. Some plants do well in more acidic soil while some do better in neutral soil.
