"Bride and Groom" was an old time 1940s radio show which featured actual weddings of young couples from all over the country. The 15-minute show aired each weekday morning, sandwiched between popular soap operas. It debuted in 1945 and rode the radio airwaves until moving to national TV in 1951. The show ran on CBS until 1953 before jumping to NBC for a single season in 1954. The couple shares with the radio audiences their love story minutes before they are married privately off the air in the chapel at the Chapman Park Hotel in Los Angeles. For being on the show, some of the couples received wedding rings, house wares, and an all expense paid honeymoon.
Hosted by John Nelson, we hear about how the couple met, their first date, first kiss, and how they proposed. The couples dressed the part and wore their wedding attire, their immediate friends and family are in attendance (or listening to the radio) and the orchestra plays their song of choice as the exit to be married. Truly a romantic gem of an old time radio show, "Bride and Groom" also interviews couples married for 50 years or more.
The Wedding Invitation is generally in good condition. It has some wear and browning - particulary around the edges. It has a crease across the middle and some other small dings.
