Extremely scarce Hans Wegner for Johannes Hansen solid teak oval dining table measuring 125" long when the leaves used. Owned by the same family since it was purchased in the mid 1960's. Generously sized top measures 51.5" wide and 70" long. There are three original leaves; one measures 11.75" wide, and was in the table everyday - it matches the table top color and patina. Two additional 21.5" wide leaves were used by the family on holidays, and show slightly less wear (please see photos). Please note this table is extremely heavy. The only other matching table for sale is being offered at $48,000.
The top's edges are rounded. The corners at the center seam are angled, as are the four corners of the leaves. The three leaves also have a banded edge on all four sides. The shaped skirting that supports the top is rounded on the underside, and angles outward as it meets at the center of the table's sides. A cantilevered-style bracket extends from the leg to the table's rounded end, and is a visual extension of the skirting. The underside extension structure is hard, densely grained continental pine, and features a joined pair of drop-down teak legs that provide additional support when the leaves are inserted. The table's tapered legs are heavy solid teak.
The top shows extremely minor wear and patina of a table this age, that was not often used. There is one shallow (and very small), "T" shaped mark, and a tiny bit of fine scratching, very minor. Overall, this hard, dense wood has worn extremely well. The legs are overall extremely clean. As stated above, the narrow leaf matches the table top, and the two larger leaves are slightly more pristine.
Dimensions: 29.5" Tall, 125" long with the 3 leaves, 51.50" at the widest point. Without the leaves, it measures 70" long. The size of the leaves are 21.5", 21.5" and 11.75".

known for his chairs and seating pieces — though a master of many
furniture types like sofas and tables — Hans Wegner was a prolific
designer whose elegant, often ebullient, forms and devotion to the
finest methods in joinery made "Danish Modern" a popular byword for
stylish, well-made furniture in the mid-20th century.
Wegner considered himself a carpenter first and a furniture
designer second. Like his peers Arne Jacobsen and Finn Juhl, Wegner
believed that striking aesthetics in furniture were based on a
foundation of practicality: a chair must be comfortable and sturdy
before it is chic.
Wegner’s most representative piece, the “Round chair” (1949),
gained a footnote in political history when it was used on the TV stage
of the first Kennedy-Nixon debate of 1960. Wegner was a designer who revered his primary material — wood —
and it shows. His wood gathers patina and character with age; every
Hans Wegner piece testifies to the life it has led.
