IT IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR ORIGINAL, IT IS LOWER PROFILE AND TIGHTER FITTING THAN THE ORIGINAL, IT WILL NOT FALL OUT, THUS SAVING IT FROM THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL AND DOG. IT DOES NOT TWIST IN, JUST PUSHES IN AND OUT. YOUR CONTAINER LID HAS A SQUARE HOLE AND THE NEW CAP IS ROUND JUST LIKE ALL VITAMIX LIDS. THE GAP FROM THE SQUARE TO THE ROUND IS SO THE LID CAN BREATH WHICH IS NECESSARY WHEN BLENDING HOT SOUPS.
