This listing is for a used Conn 22M tenor saxophone that has been inspected and serviced as needed to good playing condition. This is not a model that I'm all that familiar with to be honest. I think that it was probably made in the 1980's or 90's, when Conn was owned by UMI. It is marked "USA" on the bell, and I don't see any other country stamp, so i assume it was made here, and thus is not one of the infamous 'Mexi-Conns'. Interestingly, it has rolled tone holes, obviously a throw back to Conn's glory days when all their top line horns had this rather expensive to produce feature.

I have gone over this horn from top to bottom making repairs as needed to ensure that it is in excellent playing condition. Worn or damaged pads and key corks were replaced as needed, and adjustments were performed such that all pads are sealing properly with a light touch of their key. This horn now plays great from top to bottom, as you can hear in the demonstration video link below. It is ready to provide years of worry free service for its next owner.

This horn is in overall good physical condition. The body is straight. The neck has not suffered from any pull down, or other damage. There are no significant dents or dings, but there are several minor pings and nicks. Two of the key guard feet (low C key) have been pushed in slightly, and one was also re-soldered at some point (see pic where I am pointing). This doesn't prevent the key from operating properly, so it really isn't worth it to go to the cost of popping these minor dings out.  Cosmetically speaking, this certainly isn't the prettiest horn, but then again, it is far from the worst I've seen. It shows moderate to heavy scratching, particularly on the left side of the bell where it would contact the player's thigh (of side of their chair as the case may be), and the back of the body. The lacquer is mostly intact on the body, but almost completely worn off the neck for some reason. This is all purely cosmetic in nature though. The pads are a mix of some older, and some newer (with a handful that I just replaced as part of the servicing of this sax). It might need a few more replaced a few years down the road, but it is good for the time being. All pads are sealing properly with a light touch.

This sax comes in a replacement Pro-tec brand case. This is a good quality case, which has the added benefit of being much lighter than what the original would have been. It'll be a lot easier to carry, especially if this horn ends up in the hands of a young player. The case shows normal wear and tear, but it is plenty solid. It is missing it's shoulder strap though. You might be able to find a universal replacement, or just carry it by the normal handles.

Also included are the following accessories: mouthpiece, ligature, mouthpiece cap, neck strap, cork grease, 2 reed cases, and misc. cleaning supplies. The mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized, so it is ready for use. It is the original Conn Precision mouthpiece for this horn. It is in good condition except for a minor tooth gouge. It is still quite useable though. It is a decent starter mouthpiece, but if you want something better you might want to check out my other items for sale. I usually have a selection of quality used professional level mouthpieces at very reasonable prices. You might also want to look into a better neck strap, because the included one is quite basic and a bit uncomfortable. I usually have some upgrade strap options as well. Other than that, all you will need to obtain is reeds.

This would be a great horn for beginner to intermediate level players of all ages. It would also be a great marching band instrument, double, or backup for more advanced players.
