This is a rare and wonderful antique German Wax Valentine depicting a full nativity scene encased under a blown glass dome.

It is most unusual. The creche includes an elaborate stable with the Infant Jesus in a manger, Mary, St. Joseph and an angel, plus shepherds, lambs, a cow and a donkey. But in addition there is a full wax village scene in the background with a castle, church and other buildings plus a large fir tree.

The diorama is in excellent condition with vibrant, fresh colors.

Including the dome, it measures 7 1/2" high. It is in superb condition.

I have removed the dome so that the fragile wax figures and buildings can be safely packed for shipment. The winning bidder may simply re-glue the dome in place as desired.

This is the most complete creche scene that I have seen in this series of wax valentines. Upon request, I shall be happy to include a copy of an article by Ada F. Robacker  entitled "WAX FIGURES UNDER GLASS" which appeared in ANTIQUE COLLECTING , February 1979. It is the only article I have come across which deals with these precious antique wax pieces.

If you collect antique German Christmas, Nativity scenes or wax valentines, this is a wonderful opportunity to add a truly special example to your collection.

Thank you for your visit. Please see my other antique German wax Christ Child Christmas item, which is listed on Ebay this week. (Kindly preview Photo #8 above.)
