PiezoBarrel P9 Trumpet/Brass Pickup and 4 meter cable with Do-It-Yourself solder on adapters for Trumpet.

Note: This listing is for a pickup with adapters that can be soldered onto mouthpiece shank or the instrument directly.  Trumpet and Trombone Mouthpieces shown in photo are NOT included - these are just examples of how the brass adapters are used.  Low cost mouthpieces with adapters installed are available on other listings.  The pickup in this listing is primarily for Trumpet - other pickups such as the PiezoBarrel 'Wood' are also available for brass instruments such as trombone or tuba.

The PiezoBarrel P9 was developed for trumpet in collaboration with Master Trumpeter, Schilke Artist and Grammy Award Winning jazz musician Darren Barrett.  The pickup has a crisp warm sound.

Note:- Mouthpieces shown are not included - these are just to illustrate how the brass fittings can be used.  If you are not comfortable doing soldering yourself, you can get an instrument technician/repairer to do the soldering for you.

Included:-

  • PiezoBarrel P9 Trumpet Pickup.
  • 4m long 3.5mm to 6.3mm shielded cable to plug in to standard 6.3mm (1/4 inch) line or instrument socket.
  • Small Philips screwdriver to adjust output level.
  • Blocking screws with O rings so instrument can be played without the pickup.
  • 2 x Brass threaded adapters for soldering onto trumpet mouthpiece shank.  Note: Mouthpiece is not included.
  • Pickup connection is a standard 3.5mm (1/8th inch) jack/socket.
  • Provides high output
  • Spare O rings
  • Manual supplied in PDF format contains fitting instructions.

Features:-

  • Pickup screws in to the instrument with a M6 x 1.0 standard metric thread.
    • High signal to noise ratio
    • Does not require pre-amplifier
    • Output voltage is adjustable between zero and full output voltage
    • Pickup can be unscrewed from an instrument and screwed into another instrument that has the pickup adapter fitted.
  • Low feedback.  As the pickup is built in to the instrument, external sounds have very little impact on the output signal.
  • Can be connected directly to mixers, recorders or guitar amplifiers as well as standard Guitar effect pedals and loop stations.
  • Reproduces the natural sound of the instrument.
  • Works particularly well with guitar effect pedals.
Additional information:-
The pickup works on the pressure from the standing wave inside the instrument - not mechanically transmitted sound (unlike a stick-on pickup).  This means that a hole has to be drilled into the bore of the mouthpiece for the pickup to work properly (see the sample pictures showing typical installations).  This hole is blocked (with a blocking screw) so the instrument can be played without the pickup.  The pickup will work with wireless systems but will generally need a custom cable for the specific wireless system.  Wireless systems designed for guitar usually work best.  The volume control on the pickup can be used to reduce the output voltage from the pickup to prevent distortion with wireless mic systems.  The output socket in the pickup is a stereo 1/8 inch connector with the signal on the tip and earth on the ring and sleeve.  If the supplied cable is not used then a shielded cable is recommended to prevent noise and hum.

NOTE: Some countries (eg. UK) charge import duty and/or other taxes, paying these costs is the responsibility of the buyer.
