What's on this DVD;  Women of the Rails 

This is a collection of fun old vintage (Turn of the Century) Railroad films, where women were the heroes in the stories.  Great short stories from the past.  Also,  There is a very rare unknown film called "The Runaway Special" that is  a lost piece of film history.  We hope you'll enjoy!.    

1st Film; "Lonedale Operator". A 1911 short American film directed by D.W. Griffith and written by Mack Sennett. The involves a girl who takes over a telegraph station after her father takes ill. After the payroll for the town's mine is delivered, two drifters try to steal the money. The Lonedale Operator includes "elements of romance, drama, suspense, Western, and even a bit of comedy near the end. This is a narrated version. Runtime 10:55 Min's 

2nd Film; "Barney Oldfield's Race for a Life".  This is a 1913 film is a silent comedy short, directed and produced by Mack Sennett and starring Mack Sennett,  Mabel Normand and Barney Oldfield himself. It is considered one of the earliest to create the common archetypal silent film plot of a villain tying a young damsel to the tracks of an oncoming locomotive. Runtime 15:28 Min's 

3rd Film; "Hazards Of Helen".  1915  This was a very important American Adventure movie series starting in 1914.  There were a total of 119 chapters produced and we included 2 of our favorites on this DVD. 1st, "Wild Engines" and 2nd, "Wrong Train Order". Silent and fun to see. Runtime 28:16 Min's 

4th Film; "Asleep at the Switch". 1923, This is Actually 2 short films. 1st, "Mother-in-law" and 2nd the film is Produced by Mack Sennett, called "Asleep at the Switch".  Stars Ben Turpin, Kewpie Morgan, Madeline Hurlock, in this film,  A train operator doses off and does not get the signal to switch the track in time for the Presidential train.  Realizing the danger, his wife chases the train to signal to save it.  This film is narrated.  Runtime 6:45 Min's 

5th Film; "Southern Exposure ". 1928 film. Connie Chase receives a letter from Chase County, Kentucky, informing her that her lawyer husband, Jimmie, is a descendant of the Blue Grass State Chases. Assuming that they are now aristocratic heirs, they take a trip to visit their wealthy relations. They soon discover that Chaseville is a back-country hick town, and that their kin are dirt-poor illiterates who ambulate in bare feet. Ends in the courtroom where it becomes a dance floor, and everyone celebrates. Runtime 20:59 Min's 

6th Film; "Romance of the Rails". 3 short films. 1st, 1905; "The Runaway Special"- Stars Frances Lenoir and Produced by Ernest M. Reynolds, very RARE. 2nd, 1905; A trip to Salt Lake City. A spoof on Mormon polygamy.  3rd, 1903 film called Romance on the Rails..  All are silent so we added a soundtrack to them.  We hope you'll enjoy. Runtime 10:12 Min's
