The Olive Klinkhammer has a highly visible yellow wing para-post and low-riding realistic caddis profile. The Klinkhammer is a sure winner in many mayfly and caddis hatches this wonderfully designed fly was the created by Hans Van Klinken. Known as the Klinkhammer it is a dry fly designed to hang down in the film imitating an insect that's trying to emerge. This technique is very effectively during the early stages of the many hatch. A good idea is to apply floatant to the top above the hackle of the fly but leave the rear third of the body dry, so it absorbs water and hangs even further down into the water suspending its body in the surface film. The Klinkhammer is very effective on warm summers evenings when fish are rising and taking emerging insects.
