This is a complete set - a total of 30 bearings for Studer A80 R/RC/VU 1/4 transport mechanism for a bargain price.

These are high quality, high precision, low noise - ABEC 7 equivalent Japanese made bearings with a correct lubricant / amount for this application which were tested extensively.

Please do not mistaken these with the off the shelf "car bearings manufacturer" bearings that others have on offer (we tried them all - they're not of the appropriate quality for the A80 transport application period.

Why downgrade the best tape transport mechanism ever made with inappropriate specifications bearings when you can buy top quality ones for the same or in many cases better price here? It's enough work to replace them all. Why not do it right the first time?

Studer had a custom bearings made for them by a Swiss company RMB which no longer exist. Finding hi quality replacement bearings that will keep your wow&flutter to the spec (or better yet now when all the originals are dried out on your machine) - again to factory specs is no easy task. There are a lot of specific parameters basically in every position on the A80 transport. Decent spec or even hi spec standard off the shelf BRAND NAME bearings just don’t cut it here. To name a few:

-very low rotational force of the bearings,

-all of them are positioned horizontally,

-there is a specific preload force on them which is specific to the bearings used originally,

-in quite a few positions (pinch roller mechanism, tape tension sensors) the bearing never turn a full 360 degrees spin once in position (no distribution of the lubricant inside the bearing…- standard lubricant in bearings is the worst in this application - usually lubricant used in standard bearings is rated for hi speed and high load).

- Hi speed capability bearings are of no factor here.

Not only a correct tolerance is important but a correct lubricant used for appropriate low rolling resistance and constant lubrication distribution even in horizontal position for this application is a must.

No more questioning yourself if the available replacements are of an appropriate quality for the job or how will they hold up in the long run. No more questioning which are the right replacement part numbers or what is the difference between them. We have done all the research and testing for you.
