The Coincidentalist: The Arizona desert has been a predominant theme/source of inspiration for Howe Gelb, indie rock pioneer & founder of the legendary band Giant Sand. Since 1985, Gelb, based in Tucson, AZ has brought the spirit of the southwest and high art to his DIY recordings. Gelb's The Coincidentalist was recorded with M. Ward & Steve Shelley (of Sonic Youth), & brings together a set of songs that seem linked, like a novel but effortless stand on their own. Guests include Bonnie Prince Billy & KT Tunstall.

Zero Hour Compilation: Judging from these 13 tracks recorded at New York City’s Thread Waxing Space, the club has presented an eclectic and prescient series of shows. What was avant in 1993 (Guided By Voices’ doleful Merseybeat, Giant Sand’s hazy country-rock) has now edged into the alternative rock mainstream.
