Classic bombe style walnut veneer chest, made in Italy for the American market in the 1960s. Purchased at Marshall Fields in Chicago, it is a reproduction of an 18th century original - variations of this type have been made for export since the early 20th century. This one is walnut, with strikingly figured veneers. Two small drawers at the top, over two wider ones below. Shaped top, front and sides. The drawers are paper lined.
In exceptional condition - structurally perfect. The finish is near mint to mint and the color shows little to no evidence of fading. A few tiny marks on the front, too small to photograph. Otherwise, near mint to mint. No dings, chips or wear to the piece. Non-smoking, no pet home.
Measurements: 31" tall. The top measures 38" wide at the back, and 28" wide at the front. The widest point of the chest is 43.25". The top is 15" deep and it is 18" at its deepest point.
