Item:  Sealed NEW OLD STOCK (NOS) plastic package of 10 skeins (actually, donut bundles), measuring 153 yards each (total of 1,530 yards), of 100% pure, combed, virgin Australian Merino wool yarn, made in Italy.  It’s for USA size 4-6 needles.  These are the rare “1009” color type - blue, black and gray, which I think is no longer made.  The maker is the respected Italian family business (the Rosina family), Filtes, located at: via Frugoni 37R, 16131, Genova, Italy.  The business has ‘brands’ of yarn and this is the King brand, also called Filati King.  Each ball or donut of yarn offered here was priced $8.25 back then.  Apparently the distributor was Needful Yarns.  This 1009 type would be great for gloves, scarves or anything for a guy or a gal.  I think I’d like gloves made with it because they’d be perfect to match my Levi’s jeans and my winter ski jacket!  “Made In Italy” and of the best, soft, combed virgin Merino wool -- don’t miss out if interested because somebody is going to snap-up this rare bundle of ten NOS luxury yarns.  PLEASE SEE MY OTHER EBAY LISTINGS FOR A NICE SELECTION OF ART, ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES !!

About the company who made your yarn:

Today, Filtes still serves some customers who are grandchildren or great-grandchildren of the customers served back in the day by Onorato Rosina.

In the period leading up to the World War II, Giovanna Rosina, wife of Onorato Rosina, stepped in to enhance her husband's business with a complementary sideline in yarn trade.

During the war period she proved to be an truly enterprising tradeswoman who managed to keep up the industry contacts, face the myriad problems inherent in the grave situation, and come out of these trials stronger and with deep bonds of respect and friendship on the part of fellow yarn producers and traders.

After the war, the company was joined by the family's two sons, Franco and Fulvio. The latter eventually decided to pursue a career as an accountant, achieving great heights in the profession: he became President of the National Association of Chartered Accountants and continues to offer his expert services in Genoa and Milan.

Franco Rosina, father of five children, worked hard to develop the business and expand its clientle. In the 50s, he invented and patented the two brands "King" and "Sydney", with which he began producing classic and fancy yarns for knitting and industry.

This step helped the business to develop further and continue to build up its solid reputation among customers and suppliers. In 1977, after finishing his studies, Franco's son Alberto joined the company, followed, ten years later, by Giampiero.

Alberto and Giampiero Rosina still continue the family tradition, upholding the values and teachings that have carried the company through all the difficult times, to grow and thrive, and to reach the significant age it boasts today.

Filtes SAS is a child of hard work and creative entrepreneurship of the Rosina family, which for three generations has specialised in the field of industrial yarns and knitting supplies.

The father of this family tradition was Onorato Rosina, Artillery Captain, who, in 1922, started to collaborate and represent the yarn producer Filatura Piemonte-Lane Rubello of Trivero. This relationship lasted for over 40 years, bringing great results and creating some lasting relationships in the textile market of that era.

From the great human qualities and professional abilities of Onorato Rosina was born and grew the company's signature bond with the customers, based on respect and quality of work that inspired and still inspires the subsequent generations continuing this tradition.
