Hand painted ornament of Alexander Hamilton, a famous founding father of United States. Born around 1757 in British West Indies, he served as aide-de-camp to George Washington during the American Revolution. Became a lawyer in New York after the war. With Jay and Madison, he wrote The Federalist essays in support of a new constitution. President Washington appointed him first Secretary of the Treasury, 1789-1795, in which position he was immensely influential.
Ornament is 4" tall and painted completely by hand on wood in Virginia. Based on a painting of Hamilton made during his life. It comes with a descriptive hang tag and a gold cord which can be used to hang the ornament on your tree.
The composite photo shows him in different stages of his creation. His left hand is clutching modern $10 bills...not at all authentic for his time period, but I couldn't resist adding something to indicate how important he was to our monetary system and to make me smile.
