The SunSun HJ-611B Aquarium Internal Filter combines the aquarium filter and the aquarium pump.
The pump capacity of the aquarium pump is 450 liters per hour with a power consumption of just 6 watts. The aquarium pump whose flow can be regulated by a slider, disposes of a rotatable discharge tube with a diffuser.
At the same time oxygen can be additionally added to the aquarium by a tube.
The Aquarium Internal Filter can be without any problems used for aquariums with a water volume of up to 60 liters. The operation of small aquariums becomes an easy task.
On delivery, the filter unit of the Aquarium Internal Filter is filled by default with activated carbon. A filter sponge serves as a second filter stage.
Of course, the filter unit of the Aquarium Internal Filter can be filled individually, however, you should keep in mind that the filter materials should be graduated from coarse to fine.
Filter media:
1. stage: mechanical / conditionally biological filtration
2. stage: chemical filtration (activated carbon, peat, phosphate ex etc.)
Filter floss - filter fleece / filter sponge:
Filter media like fleece, floss or sponges are an important part of modern aquaristics.
Due to filter floss, coarse dirt particles are absorbed, the sponges reduce the content of nitrate, they clean the water of chemical impurities and ensure for optimal conditions for the accumulation of filter bacteria.
Activated carbon:
In aquaristics activated carbon is used to bind urinary and humic substances, pesticides and metabolic products as well as similar residues and by this means provide for clear water in the aquarium. Moreover, by using activated carbon, the content of ozone and chlorine in the water is reduced. Activated carbon is particularly well-suited for the pre-treatment of tap water, to counteract turbidity due to floating particles and last but not least to filter out any residues after a medication treatment.
During a medication or algae treatment you should renounce the use of carbon in the filter, however, after the treatment it is indispensable to use it in order to remove any remaining residues. We recommend not to leave the activated carbon for a longer period inside the filter because after reaching the capacity it may be possible that the bound pollutants are washed out and return to the water.
When purchasing an aquarium filter or after a complete purification, once again the beneficial bacteria have to be enriched. There are special bacteria cultures that can be added to the aquarium filter, thus facilitating the re-start.
