Offered for sale is a new in the box, vintage 1996 Gearbox Limited Edition Wayne Visible Gas Pump advertising Texaco Fire Chief Gasoline and made of Diecast Metal. This item is in new/mint condition and the box is in excellent condition also. Please look closely at the pictures for additional details concerning condition. I sell all items as is. By 1918, the first visible pump was introduced. The customer was able to see just how much fuel he was purchased by the inclusion of a large glass cylinder that was hooked up to the pump. When first introduced, the glass cylinders were retrofitted to curbside pumps that already existed. In 1923 companies started to develop new pumps with the cylinders attached directly to them.  This was also the early foray into experimenting with motorized pumping mechanisms versus the manual hand crank. Around 1925, the visible cylinder was replaced by the clock-style meter, which was a dominant feature of early 1930s gas pumps. The pump itself is 12" tall, the box is 15 3/4" high, 5 3/4" wide and 5 3/4" depth. This is an excellent older (24 years old) item that would make a really great gift or awesome addition to any collection. Thanks for looking!
