Very Important Pre-Purchase Information!
There are several important considerations to make before purchasing this particular refillable cartridge system. Firstly, the refillable cartridges utilises 'single use chips' which can be reset using the rihac USB powered chip resetter (included).
**These chips are fitted with a non-user replaceable battery. Once this battery is dead (typically 6-12 months) the chip will need to be replaced (replacement chips available for puchase here). Currently there is only one chip manufacturer in the world and the only alternative is to use the OEM Brother chips. The OEM chips can be removed from your genuine cartridges and used with the refillable cartridges as an alternative as they do not have a battery.
*Chip resetters work for a pre-determined number of resets only, once that number has been exceeded a new chip resetters would need to be purchased. The 40x resetter will reset a total of 40 cartridges and the upgrade option of the 120x resetter will reset a total of 120 cartridges. The amount of times you need to use the resetter is dictated by the chip you have fitted to the CISS as it simply resets the chip counter to read a full cartridge volume. If using the LC3313XL chips (as fitted to the CISS) you would expect to reset every 15mls for the Black and every 12mls for the colour cartridges. If using chips from genuine Brother LC3311 cartridges you would expect to reset the black every 5mls and every 5 mls for the colours. If using the 'starter cartridge' chips from the cartridges which came with your printer you would need to reset as per the LC3311+20% as the starter cartridges hold 20% more than a LC3311 cartridge.
