By 2019, some 6 million cell phones were in use on the Caribbean's largest island (population: 11.3 million). No surprise, then, that the Selfie phenomena became the subject of a charming and whimsical graphic arts project at the 2019 Havana art biennial, where more than a dozen new posters were unveiled, all commenting on the worldwide Selfie culture.

The Cuban Poster Gallery is delighted to have acquired a small number of these original, limited edition graphics. Fewer than 100 copies of each poster were screen-printed and most were snapped up by collectors before the end of the 2019 art biennial. The comical screen-printed poster in this listing, simply titled SELFIE, was designed by one of Cuba's most prominent graphic artists, RAUPA (Raul Valdes Gonzalez), who illustratres a woman who has encountered some misfortune while taking a selfie: she dislocates her arm. (Yes, taking a selfie can pose some challenges). The poster -- hand signed by the artist -- was screen-printed in Havana on cartolina (a paper that is heavier than the type used for many other Cuban posters.)
