ASH WOOD

Ash is a hardwood and is hard, dense (within 20% of 670 kg/m3 for Fraxinus americana,[ and higher at 710 kg/m3 for Fraxinus excelsior, tough and very strong but elastic, extensively used for making bows, tool handles, baseball bats, walking sticks and other uses demanding high strength and resilience.

THE MORGAN MOTOR COMPANY OF GREAT BRITAIN STILL MANUFACTURE THEIR SPORT CARS WITH FRAMES MADE FROM ASH WOOD.

DID YOU KNOW

The discovery of 130 canes and walking sticks inside the tomb suggest not only the opulence of even the most mundane artifacts,

but evidence that King Tut was a cane collector as well.

The cane has a long history, traced to Egyptian history through depictions in hieroglyphics even before the discovery of the hundred plus canes.

NOTE on CONDITION

ANY WEAR IS CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THIS ITEM

As our items are antiques and have been used in some case for many years, the items

have a natural character which includes minor dings, dents, and other marks of age.

Our items wear these as badges of honor that they have survived through the years.

So please expect some minor signs of their previous lives.

We try to explain and show every detail, but sometimes something may be

 unintentionally overlooked.

REGARDING CANES & WALKING STIX

Many folks ask me if antique canes are OK to use. I do not believe that a antique cane should be used for support.

When these were made it was more as a fashion statement and not a means of support. Everybody carried a cane in the days of old.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE
MOST OF THESE CANES ARE HAND MADE.
Webster's Dictionary defines handmade as an item made by hand or by a hand process. It was first used in the early seventeenth century.
Because humans are not machines, many sellers remind customers that handmade products may feature inconsistencies or slight flaws. Those are signs that the product wasn't mass produced.
YOU ARE BIDDING WITH THIS UNDERSTANDING AND IF IT IS NOT AGREEABLE TO YOU THEN PERHAPS THIS ITEM IS NOT A GOOD CHOICE
