My amazing parents were married in 1969- My father was in the Navy and they traveled all over the country, in their travels they happened to be in San Francisco and my fantastic home maker mother decided it would be a good idea to buy a sourdough starter while she was there. She has fed and taken care of it ever since, like her third child! I always wondered what that strange concoction of stuff was in the pantry, if only I knew then how amazing that yeast really was maybe I would have appreciated the hundreds of fresh loaves of bread it provided for our family. I grew up my entire life with fantastic bread, dough, waffles and so on, i just thought it was normal.

Also- I only feed this starter the best possible flour- Bobs Red Mill unbleached all purpose
