Crystal Paints
Marine Paint is a quick drying polyurethane paint that can be brushed rolled or
sprayed onto exterior and interior surfaces. Can be
painted on timber (Crystal Timber/Plywood Sealer required), fibreglass, steel
(Crystal Red or Grey Oxide Primer required) and aluminium (may need etch
priming).It is a hard
wearing and long lasting vibrant paint with a gloss finish. The paint
is made in Australia and all raw materials are locally sourced.
The paint does not
require a special primer for fibreglass, however some aluminium surfaces may
need an acid etch (A 1:1 ratio of Hydrochloric Acid (Pool Acid) and water is
recommended by the manufacturer and all timber will need a coat of Crystal
Paints Marine Plywood & Timber Sealer prior to painting. The Crystal Paints
Marine Paint is made up using an advanced formula allowing it to stick to
virtually all pre-painted surfaces (A test patch is should be applied to each
different variant of paint or surface to ensure there are no compatibility
issues).
·
It can be used on fibreglass, aluminium, steel and timber (certain
primers may be required).
·
Up to 12 square metres per 1 litre can*
·
Dry time 2-4 hours
PREPARATION:
Make sure you stir
the paint well and check for settling on the bottom of the can before
painting.
Sand the surface
with 240 – 320 grit sandpaper and clean very well (No special cleaners required
just remove all dust, dirt, salt etc.).
Using a fine
bristle brush or a short nap roller like a mohair is the easiest application
method for non-experienced painters.
If you’re going to
spray, you will need to thin the paint out with mineral turps to avoid spitting,
resulting in a clean smooth surface. Thinning percentages will vary depending
on your spray unit; start with 3% and keep adding in small increments (No more
than 15%) until it comes out of your spray unit without spitting).
If painting floors,
an anti-slip grit must be added between coats.
Crystal Paints
Marine Paint dries in 2-4 hours and can be re-coated in 2-4 hours depending
weather conditions. It is recommended that you let the paint cure for at least
72 hours prior to using your boat (customers have used within a day or so, the
longer you leave it the better your finish will be).
1 litre of paint
can cover up to 12 square metres* however it can go further depending on how it’s
applied.
To clean up use
Mineral turpentine.
Do not paint if the
temperature is less than 12 degrees C.
We recommend you
use gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, breathing apparatus,
protective footwear, and have adequate ventilation.
* Coverage WILL
vary depending on a multitude of factors e.g. type of application, experience etc.
We try our best to
ensure all colours represented on a screen are very near the true colours
however the colours displayed on a screen will look slightly different to the
real product. This is due to different screen settings and contrast
qualities.
